Heilbronn, Germany-based Azur Space Solar Power GmbH, a developer of solar cells for concentrated PV (CPV) applications, says it has achieved 43.3% efficiency with its new multi-junction cell using 500-fold concentration.

According to the company, this is the highest efficiency ever for a solar cell grown upright on metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE) technology. The MOVPE technology has been proven in mass production on 100 mm and 150 mm Ge-based substrates.
