A joint venture of Spain-based Aljaval and Mexico-based Tecnoambiente has received approval as a ‘small producer’ by Mexico's Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) for six new photovoltaic solar projects.

The projects, which will be located in the states of Coahuila and Baja California Norte, will represent a combined capacity of 160 MW.

In addition, Aljaval and Spain-based Transworld Solar have received similar CRE approval for two projects in the state of Chiapas – with a combined capacity of 60 MW – to be built with Mexico-based Redes Diseno y Construccion.

All of the projects are expected to start construction by the end of the year for commissioning in mid-2016.
