Georgia Power Offering Solar Installation Services

Georgia Power has launched a new solar sales and installation service for its customers.

The new solar sales and installation program is administered by Georgia Power's unregulated energy services group. The company stresses that the offering is completely under this unregulated business unit and not subsidized in any way by its regulated business.

Norrie McKenzie, vice president of renewable development for Georgia Power, says the company worked with the Georgia Public Service Commission to develop its solar offerings, such as the Large Scale Solar and Advanced Solar Initiative programs, in addition to the new residential installation program.

‘Through this constructive regulatory environment, we've been able to add cost-effective solar in a way that doesn't put upward pressure on rates,’Â McKenzie says. ‘Georgia actually has one of the most competitive and fastest-growing solar markets in the country.’

The utility says it is working with select Georgia solar installers as part of the program, as well as established outside lenders that will facilitate financing options for customers.
