Atlanta-headquartered Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Co., has issued a request for proposals (RPF) for renewable energy resources. The energy will be used to help grow Georgia Power's Green Energy program, which was launched in October 2006. The program currently has more than 4,400 customers enrolled, who purchase approximately 19,000 100-kWh blocks monthly.

Georgia Power says it seeks competitive proposals that will offer exceptional value to the company and its customers. The company is seeking up to 80,000 MWh of green energy annually, 1,500 MWh annually of which may be solar photovoltaic energy.

Proposals must provide annual energy-only pricing for energy and associated renewable energy credits. The green energy resources for the RFP are needed on or before Jan. 1, 2011.

Georgia Power prefers a contract term of 10 years but will consider proposals for a 20-year term for solar resources only. There is a bidder's fee of $200 to help defray administrative costs.
