Solar Power Inc. says it has been awarded a contract by Costco to design and install a 500 kW system at Costco's Hazlet, N.J., retail store. The system will be designed by Solar Power Inc. to utilize Solyndra cylindrical modules, which capture sunlight across a 360-degree photovoltaic surface.
According to SPI, this installation will be the single largest commercial PV solar system to date that incorporates Solyndra panels.
The system will utilize 3,300 173 W Solyndra panels and a 500 kW Advanced Energy inverter. Installation is scheduled for completion at the beginning of the third quarter of this year.
