Lawmakers in China have proposed a draft amendment to the country's renewable energy laws that would create state guarantees for the purchase of renewable energy. Currently, state grids negotiate with power producers to purchase renewable energy.

If approved, the legislation would guarantee the direct purchase of a certain annual minimum amount of renewable energy to be used on the electricity grid, according to Reuters, citing a report from Xinhua.

The guarantees are expected to benefit prominent solar firms, such as ReneSola, Suntech Power and Trina Solar.
