Vitronic has expanded its product range with the VINSPECsolar inspection solution, an inline system that inspects solar wafers for microcracks and other quality attributes such as marks and saw grooves, decorated grain boundaries, inclusions and holes.

The company says VINSPECsolar utilizes four specially developed, high-resolution matrix cameras to take images of stationary parts. Using specific back lighting and an infrared light source with an array of high-power LEDs, microcracks become visible. Operators can immediately receive inspection results and live images on the user terminal.

Both the application software and graphical user interfaces can be tailored to specific customer requirements, Vitronic says. All the captured data is saved and made available for statistical evaluation.
