SCHOTT Solar plans to end production at its Billerica, Mass., manufacturing facility, effective July 31.

The Billerica site currently employs approximately 180 full-time employees and 45 temporary workers, who manufacture 300 W photovoltaic modules. The company has filed a WARN notification notifying employees of the company's intent to end operations at the location. The annual capacity of the site is 15 MW.

The company's Albuquerque plant, which was inaugurated in May, is expected to reach 85 MW of production by year-end. The facility currently employs 300 people and, at maximum capacity, could employ as many as 1,500, SCHOTT says.
