Abound Solar, a manufacturer of thin-film photovoltaic solar modules, has announced that Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has certified the company's AB1 series of PV modules in accordance with UL 1703 Third Edition.
Under the UL Witness program, testing occurred at both Abound Solar's internal compliance laboratory, as well as at UL's PV laboratory in San Jose, Calif. The modules were exposed to several rounds of testing including accelerated stress testing under various climate conditions, mechanical impact tests, wind and snow load, fire test, rain, and arcing among others.
Modules tested passed all the requirements to receive certification. In addition to the module testing, UL certification also included an on-site inspection of the Abound Solar production facility in Longmont, Colo. The company is also in the process of testing according to IEC certification through TUV Rheinland.
