0

Recent legislative action in New York has put into place a new law exempting sales and installations of commercial solar units from the 4% state sales and use tax. According to the Wall Street Journal, the law goes into effect next week and includes both PV and solar thermal equipment. Cities and counties will also be permitted to exempt such systems from the tax.Â

Residential solar equipment in New York gained a similar tax exemption in 2005.
