U.K.-based Centrica PLC's North American subsidiary, Direct Energy, has acquired Maryland-based residential solar business Astrum Solar for $54 million.
Astrum Solar designs, installs and maintains solar power generating equipment for use in the home. Direct Energy says the acquisition provides it the opportunity to sell solar alongside other energy and services.
