MEMC Releases
Silvantis Module

MEMC Electronic Materials has introduced the MEMC Silvantis M330 solar module. The Silvantis M330 is the first product to be manufactured exclusively with MEMC-produced polysilicon and CCz p-type mono wafers.

The module features full square mono 330 W solar cells and is free of potential induced degradation, allowing for improved system reliability, the company notes.

The module improves efficiency to 16.9% (at 330 W), utilizing new technology and manufacturing techniques to maximize efficiency, minimize cost and extend product lifetime. It is also 1,000 V UL-­certified by CSA and has received IEC certification from TÜV SUD. MEMC provides a 25-year linear warranty.

KACO Integrates
Tigo Technology

KACO new energy says it is now shipping its blueplanet M series of inverters with Tigo Energy’s Management Units (MMUs) integrated into the inverter. The blueplanet 6400M and 7600M inverters are equipped with internal MMUs and the PV Safe button. This integrated solution simplifies system design, increases safety and reduces the amount of DC balance-of-system equipment, according to KACO and Tigo.

Incorporated MMUs increase intelligence within the inverter by allowing maximum power point tracking and impedance matching at the inverter and module level, providing the highest possible level of functionality and energy harvest, the companies explain.

JinkoSolar Unveils
PID-Free Modules

JinkoSolar Holding Co. Ltd. has introduced the Eagle modules, a new series of solar modules. According to the company, the Eagle modules are the first potential induced degradation (PID)-free modules to be certified under weather conditions of 85° C and 85% relative humidity.

The Eagle series features cell and assembly technology that enables it to resist PID under the toughest weather conditions and is capable of reaching 260 W peak power output, JinkoSolar adds.

Canadian Solar
Offering AC System

Canadian Solar Inc. has released the ResidentialAC system, which combines a 250 W PV module with a micro-inverter.

According to the company, the system is designed to address all of the critical limitations of current first-generation AC micro-inverters in the market. It features a 25-year micro-inverter warranty to match the module’s warranty, power generation in high-temperature environments (up to 65° C), and the ability to work with higher-power modules up to 300 MW.

ET Solar Introduces
1,000 V Modules

ET Solar Group Corp. says it has developed PV modules that have been granted 1,000 V DC UL certification by Electrical Testing Laboratories Inc.

The new 1,000 V DC certification applies to ET Solar 60-cell and 72-cell polycrystalline modules. With this certification, ET Solar modules can now be used in projects with system voltages up to 1,000 V DC rather than 600 V DC, offering lower installation costs and improved system performance, according to the company.

Aimtec Releases
New Converter

Aimtec, a provider of modular switching power supplies, has released AM5E-FZ, a new 5 W DC-DC converter for solar inverters and other applications. According to the company, the AM5E-FZ operates at -55° C to 85° C without derating.

Outdoor temperatures in more than 24 regions across Europe and North America have been known to drop to below -45° C. Under such conditions, many outdoor applications fail simply because one or more of their internal components are not designed to operate below -45° C, the company says.

The AM5E-FZ series offers 21 models with a choice of wide, 2:1 input ranging from 9 VDC to 72 VDC, stepping down to single or dual output ranges of 3.3 VDC to 15 VDC, at efficiency rates as high as 87%.

MSP Releases New
Power Terminal Block

Marathon Special Products (MSP), a provider of electrical and electronic components, has released the new Bulk Fastening Power Block (BFPB). According to the company, the BFPB differs from traditional power blocks by providing a series of fasteners to terminate numerous combinations of listed crimp lugs or flexible busbars to distribute power.

This product was developed in response to a demand for power blocks with more amps, volts and wiring combinations. The product features a current-carrying capacity of up to 1,605 A, a voltage rating of up to 1,000 V AC/DC and high short-circuit current ratings. Applications include solar junction boxes and inverter panels, as well as industrial control panels.

EJOT Introduces
New Flashing

EJOT Solar Fastening Systems, represented by ATF Inc., has released a new product for three-tab asphalt shingle roofs. EJOT Solar Flashing has been developed and manufactured in the U.S.

The product offers a secure sealing in three different layers of a roof, the company says. It provides sealing between the flashing and the fastener (first sealing), sealing between the flashing and the upper shingle layer (second sealing), and sealing of the penetration through the second shingle layer (third sealing).

The system provides strong fastening and watertight sealing features without the need to use third-party sealants.

Sun Bear System

PanelClaw has released Sun Bear, a new penetrating ground-mount product designed for large-scale solar applications.

The product features simplified construction, including pre-assembled components, as well as in-field adjustability and a unique telescoping frame. The inclusion of only four major components and zero loose fasteners makes Sun Bear intuitive to assemble, PanelClaw says.

Sun Bear struts can be attached to any Sun Bear foundation type, allowing for a range of soil conditions without needing to change the above-the-ground racking design. Integrated turnbuckles allow installers to adjust the system directly in the field.

Frameless PV Module

Trina Solar Ltd. has released the 60-cell PDG5, the first product in the company’s new line of dual-rated frameless solar modules. According to Trina, the PDG5 is resistant to potential induced degradation and micro-cracking, and it does not require grounding.

By replacing the traditional backsheet materials of conventional solar modules with heat-strengthened glass, the PDG5 provides a heavy-duty solution for environments of high temperature and humidity, conditions that can accelerate performance degradation. Additionally, the modules are designed for 1,000 V IEC and 1,000 V UL applications.

Mastervolt Unveils
Soladin Inverters

Mastervolt, based in the Netherlands, has launched a new generation of Soladin solar inverters. The new Soladin Web series is ideal for smaller PV systems, the company says. The products are designed to meet building code requirements in the U.K. and consist of three inverters with capacities of 700 W, 1,000 W and 1,500 W.

Each inverter includes integrated Wi-Fi, allowing owners to use the IntelliWeb Internet portal to monitor their arrays in any way. The inverters also feature an integrated HF transformer and a wide input voltage range, allowing them to be used with any type of PV module or solar roof tile.

For quick and easy installation, every Soladin Web inverter is equipped with quick-connect AC terminals and DC connectors, the company adds.

IR Offering
New 600 V IGBTs

International Rectifier (IR), a provider of power management technology, has expanded its family of 600 V insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) with the introduction of the IRGP4640D, IRGP4650D and IRGP4660D.

The new rugged devices are optimized for uninterruptible power supplies, solar applications and other applications, the company says. They utilize trench-thin wafer technology to offer lower conduction and switching losses.

ECM Develops
New OPV Adhesive

Engineered Conductive Materials (ECM), a supplier of conductive interconnect materials for photovoltaic applications, has introduced the DB-1569-1 low-temperature curing conductive adhesive. The adhesive is designed for use in organic photovoltaics (OPV) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).

The material formulation has been optimized for excellent conductivity and stability on various substrates when cured at 80° C or higher, according to the company. DB-1569-1 is more than 90% cured after 30 minutes at 80° C, with a dispensing work life greater than 48 hours (measured as a 25% increase in viscosity).

Mage Solar Adding
300 W Modules

Mage Solar has added a new line of high-wattage PV modules to its PowerTec Plus line. Joining the company’s existing product family of AC and DC modules are a 72-cell 300 W monocrystalline module and 72-cell polycrystalline modules in strengths from 285 W to 290 W.

With more watts per module, the new power classes give installers the distinct advantage of decreased labor costs and installation time, according to the company. The products are backed by the company’s 0 W to +5 W tolerances and a 30-year, 80% power output guarantee.

AMtec Debuts
Recombiner Box

AMtec Solar, a manufacturer of solar combiner and recombiner boxes, has added a new product to its Equinox recombiner box line. Rated for systems 600-1,000 VDC, the new ETL 1741-listed recombiner box is specifically designed for bipolar systems. The new bipolar recombiner box supports up to 14 circuits (seven positive, seven negative) and is available with UL489 or UL489b circuit breakers.

According to the company, this setup provides users with overcurrent protection and individual disconnecting means in one device while meeting the 2011 NEC requirements.

MicroTech Releases
Solar Thin-Film Line

MicroTech, a Fremont, Calif.-based wet process station supplier, has launched a product line specifically designed for high-throughput processing of thin-film solar cells. According to the company, these cells can produce substantial cost reduction and cell integration by processing an entire array of solar cells on a single substrate.

The MicroTech TF 1200 production tool can process substrates up to two meters in size. It offers low water consumption with strict control and recycling of water through a patent-pending technology, effective particle filtering and a modular design for process flexibility, MicroTech says.
